Incredible sky 'at the going down of the sun' brings Anzac centenary to a close in Brisbane

Incredible Brisbane sunset on Anzac Day centenary

What an incredible finish to Anzac Day in Brisbane tonight!

The sky at dusk was simply magnificent, with layer upon layer of cloud colouring up over the Queensland capital. This cityscape features Brisbane River, New Farm Park and the New Farm ferry terminal in the foreground with Brisbane CBD behind. At far right is the Story Bridge, lit up in poppy red to commemorate the Anzac Centenary.

With this apparent heavenly tribute "at the going down of the sun" arriving on the 100th anniversary of the service and sacrifice of the original Anzacs in World War I, these words came straight to mind when creating the image:

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

Lest We Forget."
